We went to the Feast of the Hunter's Moon on Saturday and Sunday. It was awesome! If Fort Ouiatenon in West Lafayette, Indiana is a reasonable driving distance for you, then you really must plan to go next year.
We watched Native American dance.
We saw artisans' wares, like this beautifully dyed yarn.
We watched various fife and drum corps give demonstrations.
We watched a cannon demonstration. (The picture is fuzzy due to the shock wave from the cannon firing!)
We got to watch the massed fife and drum corps perform.
We watched some country dancing.
We watched the British battle the French!
We ate LOTS of delicious food, all cooked over wood fires like these. (Samuel's favorites were the forfar bridies and apple dumplings.)
We saw all the campsites where people were living just like they did in the 1700's.
And we got in the spirit ourselves!
Next Feast is October 10-11, 2009 - hope to see you there!

I see the world through an NFP lens, apparently. You typed Ft. Ouiatenon, but I saw "Ovulation". Just what kind of events are you taking your son to, may I ask???? LOL!
Wow - it looks so fun! We really wanted to go this year but my sisters shower took over. :) I am trying to find another similar even to go to. The kids would love it! I love that photo of Samuel.
Kate, that is hilarious! They should rename CCL Central "Fort Ovulation"! LOL
Jennifer, you'll just have to come next year!
How exciting! As an Aussie I am facinated!
