excuses

Did you watch this video yet? If not, do it now! That pretty much tells you the basics. If you want more details, you should watch this one. Evidently Obama has made various excuses for his vote, including that he didn't understand what the bill was about (um, isn't it his job to understand???) and that he didn't like the way it was worded, but would have voted for it if it had been worded the same way as the federal bill. Except, he left out the part about how he was the one who kept the bill from being worded like the federal bill when it was in committee. Oops.

Here is a quote from him where he finally gives what I think is the real reason:

Number one, whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we're really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a – child, a 9-month-old – child that was delivered to term. …

And there you have it. If we have to save a child one minute, why was it okay to be trying to kill it seconds before, just because it was in a different place? Good question. Obama voted against this bill because he doesn't like the answer.
